Get Some !

Check out HomeSchool I.D.

"A home-made Student ID card, event when laminated, looks just that: home- made. Anyone can make one, including public school students. HomeSchool ID provides the ONLY Student ID card that assures, with confidence, that your student is really home schooled. Do you really want to trust your child’s rights to anything less?"

"The HomeSchool ID Program was created in 2001 by home school parents, for home school students and parents. We do not sell curriculum, toys or greeting cards. We only offer products directly related to the identification and safety of home school students and educators."

From the HomeSchool ID website

I love these- we ordered them for 3 years in a row until we joined
a private school and they issued IDs, we may still get these for this year.

Engagement

I have been neglecting my blog, and there is a good reason!
My brother Matt & his sweetheart Jen have gotten engaged!
He asked her last Friday on a beach at Lake Tahoe. Sweet!
We are all overwhelmed with joy and are looking forward to
a b-e-a-u-t-i-f-u-l wedding! Congrats Matt & Jen! Look at
her ring (click on picture) it is a white gold plumeria with
a diamond in the middle. It's gorgeous.

They are so perfect for each other and what a blessing the
Lord has prepared them for this day! WOW! Love you guys.

Household Management

The Book of Household Management
by Isabella Beeton

3. EARLY RISING IS ONE OF THE MOST ESSENTIAL QUALITIES which enter into good Household Management, as it is not only the parent of health, but of innumerable other advantages. Indeed, when a mistress is an early riser, it is almost certain that her house will be orderly and well-managed. On the contrary, if she remain in bed till a late hour, then the domestics, who, as we have before observed, invariably partake somewhat of their mistress’s character, will surely become sluggards. To self-indulgence all are more or less disposed, and it is not to be expected that servants are freer from this fault than the heads of houses. The great Lord Chatham thus gave his advice in reference to this subject:—“I would have inscribed on the curtains of your bed, and the walls of your chamber, ‘If you do not rise early, you can make progress in nothing.’”

Happy Father's Day

Erik (4) Drew this Father's Day picture for Curtis in Sunday School.
It is his first representative picture! I did not even know he could
do this!

Summ Summ Summertime

William Land Park is a magical place!

Look at this giant balloon frog on top of the Zoo's Reptile house!
What kid wouldn't like that!

I wish you could see how pink the flamingos were, they were beautiful.
If you click on the picture you can see their tall nests. Erik wanted
to get in there and play in the mud! (Genetic trait)

Come into my parlor...

Butterfly boy.

These carp are huge!

We finally got the garden beds done and I was able to plant
some morning glories on each teepee. I am so anxious to see
if it works. The boys love the bird bath- hope some birds
stop by so they can see how it is supposed to work!

Happy Summer,

Motor Skills

I found this wooden lacing shoe at the thrift store for .99 cents
what a find! My older boys had trouble with lacing cards- so to have a
three dimensional lacing shoe may be just the ticket for the Littles.

Geo boards are one of my favorite motor skill toys. These boards were
one of the few preschool items I saved when I got rid of all the
younger homeschool busy items; when I really thought we would not
have any more children. But I could not let go of them- and here
are the children I prayed for playing with them.

Curtis & Josiah built me two huge flower boxes in the front yard
yesterday, and I had Erik pull-up the steaks and edging.
Using the claw on the hammer is definitely a fine motor skill!

Jacob collected all the steaks and stockpiled them. He figured out
how to hook them on one another and swing them.

Erik pulled-up the edging and carried it away- he was so proud of himself.
He earned enough money to by a Slim Jim at the market. He savored it!
