Erik (4) Drew this Father's Day picture for Curtis in Sunday School.
It is his first representative picture! I did not even know he could
do this!

Summ Summ Summertime
William Land Park is a magical place!
Look at this giant balloon frog on top of the Zoo's Reptile house!
What kid wouldn't like that!
I wish you could see how pink the flamingos were, they were beautiful.
If you click on the picture you can see their tall nests. Erik wanted
to get in there and play in the mud! (Genetic trait)
Come into my parlor...
Butterfly boy.
These carp are huge!
We finally got the garden beds done and I was able to plant
some morning glories on each teepee. I am so anxious to see
if it works. The boys love the bird bath- hope some birds
stop by so they can see how it is supposed to work!
Happy Summer,

Motor Skills
I found this wooden lacing shoe at the thrift store for .99 cents
what a find! My older boys had trouble with lacing cards- so to have a
three dimensional lacing shoe may be just the ticket for the Littles.
Geo boards are one of my favorite motor skill toys. These boards were
one of the few preschool items I saved when I got rid of all the
younger homeschool busy items; when I really thought we would not
have any more children. But I could not let go of them- and here
are the children I prayed for playing with them.
Curtis & Josiah built me two huge flower boxes in the front yard
yesterday, and I had Erik pull-up the steaks and edging.
Using the claw on the hammer is definitely a fine motor skill!
Jacob collected all the steaks and stockpiled them. He figured out
how to hook them on one another and swing them.
Erik pulled-up the edging and carried it away- he was so proud of himself.
He earned enough money to by a Slim Jim at the market. He savored it!

Brotherhood of the Bee

This Summer has started off with a bang, um, I mean sting!
Both Jacob and Erik have been initiated into the "Brotherhood
of the Bee." On Saturday, Jacob picked up a bee "to look at it."
Today, Erik was being told to get in the house to put on shoes so
he would not step on a bee- and he would not do it, and proceeded to
step on one.
I found a helpful article HERE that helped me keep track of
the different stages that Jacob's poor finger went through;
it was swollen and an ugly pink color. Then today, Erik felt like
throwing up after about 3 minutes, so I am really going to watch him!
This is definitely going to be a Summer of firsts! I just thought
they would all be good! I had no idea that a bee sting could cause
such reactions hours and even days later!
Erik was distraught to find out the bee died in the act of stinging
him. Tonight, after dinner and baths, I am going to get out one of my
favorite BOOKS on bees and read it to him. I know that the sting will
bring a whole new level to understanding the bee book. I love the
spontaneity of homeschooling!

Planning for Summer!
DoriAnn was kind enough to give me the planning list
she tries to get through with her four boys each Summer.
I like it because it is short and sweet. I have my own
household projects that I would not put on this list.![[[Summer]] Pictures, Images and Photos](http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj178/macinak89/Title%20Pictures/summer.jpg)
"We all actually fill this out, that way Kenny feels included.
My Summer Plans
What activities would I like to do this summer? Choose 1 - 10
What friends or family would I like to spend special time with? 1 - 5
What skill would I like to learn this summer?
Choose two meals you want to specialize in making.
You will be cooking once a week alternating these two meals.
Important: We all know not everything on the list is possible.

Map Give-Away
Celebrating the end of the school year and the beginning of Summer,
I am giving away a copy of one of my favorite maps-
The National Geographic Explorers Map. I will laminate this map if
the winner would like me to. You will be able to use erasable markers
on it to follow the route of many of the prominent explorers of the
time period 1400 to the early 1800's. I pull this map out regularly
to show the boys the routes taken by people we read about.

To enter, post your favorite Geography resource. It can be a book,

Twilight
I read a review recommended by our Pastor's wife
about the Twilight series that is increasing
exponentially in popularity. HERE is the link.
"So, one wonders, how many churches and church youth groups are getting involved in a Bible study based on the Twilight series? And, how many Christians are getting trapped into the new emergent-style deception of Hegelian "dialoging"? How many realize this type of "dialectic" group thinking (conversation) is an attempt to compromise Christian faith based on God's absolute truths with the idea that Truth is relative and shifts? God's ways and thoughts are not open to discussion! Jesus said "I am the way, the truth, and the life" (Jn. 14:6)." ~Caryl Matrisciana
